Linking a license to a cause marketing effort can be the extra element it needs to stand out from the crowd, as well as accomplishing a greater good. This will session will offer case studies and strategies for doing well by doing good. You’ll hear from licensors, licensee and licensing agents involved in creating and implementing programs that benefit not only a specific cause, but the community as a whole.

LAURIE BERKIN, Founder, Marathon Marketing

Marathon Marketing provides strategic planning, marketing, execution and licensing expertise to its clients.  Prior to establishing Marathon Marketing, she developed a career as both an attorney and marketing professional working in a variety of capacities including In-house Counsel, Product Manager and Director of Licensing & Marketing.

PHOEBE CAMPBELL, Founder, Campbell Associates, LLC

Ms. Campbell founded Campbell Associates, LLC to help “brands with soul” use licensing, retail promotions and cause marketing to build brands, generate revenue and raise awareness of their missions.  She has 20 years of experience in business development, marketing and brand licensing.  Prior to founding Campbell Associates, she was SVP at a leading brand agency in New York.

PETE HENSELER, President, RC2

As President, ,Mr. Henseler helps lead the company’s worldwide day to day business, with a focus on families with younger children.  The company develops and markets thoughtful products that help solve day to day parently challenges in reaising children.  Before joining RC2, Henseler held marketing positions with American Greetings, Hasbro, and McDonald’s.

ELYSIA HOWARD, VP of Marketing and Licensing, ASPCA

With more than 18 years of marketing and communications experience, she oversees ASPCA’s cause-related marketing opportunities, corporate partnerships, licensing and grassroots marketing.  She was previously, Senior Director or North Shore Animal League America and worked at some of the largest advertising agencies in NY, including Ogilvy & Mather and Young & Rubicam.johnk

JOHN KUNKLE, Sr. Buyer, Pet Department, Wal-Mart

Mr. Kunkle began his career with Wal-mart Stores, Inc in 2000.  Over the last ten years he has held positions as a buyer in Infants/Toddlers, Hardlines, and Boys 8–18 Fashion Apparel, and is currently Sr. Buyer for dog and cat accessories in the Pet department. In 2009 he was responsible for the Walmart Stores U.S. ASPCA product line launch.

JOHN MERRICK, President, Lemur Licensing, Inc.

John’s extensive background includes high impact positions in brand management, licensing, theme store general management, event merchandising, retail buying, and store management. John formed Lemur Licensing, Inc. in June of 2003 because he saw a need for a licensing agency that operated from a brand-owners perspective.  Prior to forming Lemur Licensing, John spent three years at The Home Depot, most recently in the positions of Director of Brand Development and President of Home Depot Incentives, Inc., its gift card subsidiary.

CRAVEN RAND, Director of Operations, Resource Development, National 4-H Council

He is responsible for the oversight of the National 4-H Supply Service and works with Council’s agency, Lemur Licensing, on 4-H licensing matters.  Craven joined Council in 2007 after managing the Kenan Institute, Washington Center for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Craven’s experience in licensing includes establishing Springs Global’s NASCAR licensing program and working with John Deere and Disney as a licensee
